Images of Black Women (IBW) Film Festival is a non-profit making organisation limited by guarantee.
IBW is an international film festival that celebrates and promotes women of African Descent in cinema, whether they are on screen or behind the camera in order to:
- Increase the visibility of women of Africn descent in film
- Identify who they are, where they are and what their experiences are, within the film industry
- Create and highlight opportunities to attract more Black women into film, at all levels
- Encourage them to enter and sustain a presence in the film industry
- Acknowledge the role of Black women in film, both past and present
- Identify the next generation of talent
To achieve its goals, IBW organises the following activities
- A lifetime Achievement Award screening of an established (woman) filmmaker's work
- An Emerging filmmakers Award: Short-films competition for 15mins length films
- A childrens programme for 8 - 14 year olds: Animation workshops
- A young adult digital production programme for 16 years
- Workshops and seminars
